COVID-19
It is a challenging time for everyone with the spread of Covid-19 across the world. The restrictions that have been put in place on us as a society will have an impact on everyone's mental health. Not being able to go outdoors, catching up with friends or family or for leisure activities and exercise; it will be a challenge for all.
I am committed to ensure people continue to being able to receive mental health therapy & support through the upcoming months in a safe manner.
I do this as follows:
In-person therapy and counselling
I have a strict policy to ensure I minimise any risk of spreading the virus.
Everyone has to wash their hands upon entering. After every session, I disinfect everything that people have touched in the room, including the door handles.
People who have any symptoms of a cold or flu are not allowed on my premises. People who do have to sneeze or cough are provided with tissues.
I have no waiting room so you won't have to sit and wait with other people in the same space. On average I see 10 people a week in person and therefore the risk of spreading is extremely low considering all above measures that are put in place.

4. Tips, advice & coping strategiesI post regular tips, advice & ideas for coping strategies on how to deal with this crisis on my Facebook page.
Some general tips are:
• Remind yourself that this too shall pass.• Even if we need to be physically distanced from each other we can still stay connected through video linking platforms, telephones and even on social media.• Stay physically active - this helps our bodies release happy chemicals in our brains!• Maintain good sleeping and eating habits.• Use this time to reflect on the things that make you happy and if possible – do them!• If working from home, create a routine and make sure you take regular self-care breaks, perhaps even set up a video link with friends during your lunch break• Have conversations with people about things other than COVID (ie during your video lunch break!)• Limit watching the news and engaging in social media if you find it distressing• Use this time to pause and reflect! So often we are all so busy being busy that we rarely give ourselves permission to do this!• And finally, don’t forget that kindness toward yourself and others can make a big difference!!
